Queensridge Court in Oldbury was nominated for our Working Together Award as part of our Spirit of Housing & Care 21 Awards. This was as a result of their working with BUDS (Better Understanding of Dementia in Sandwell), an organisation supporting people with dementia, either through clubs or by befriending individuals. BUDS runs a weekly club at Queensridge, and usually between 15-20 people attend. The club is in the evening when the court is quieter, and the ethos truly is that variety is the spice of life.
The nomination said that, “the volunteers from BUDS are nothing but supportive, doing the club whatever the weather, building up relationships and friendships with residents… the founder of BUDS also comes in as Santa at our Christmas fayre, as well as bringing puppets which are now infamous at Queensridge…!”
