Official show home opening at Thomas Fields, Buxton

Housing & Care 21 celebrated the show home opening at Thomas Fields, a new Extra Care scheme, on Tuesday 10 April 2018. The opening was well attended by Councillors representing Derbyshire County Council and High Peak Borough Council together with the Housing & Care 21 team.

Donna Holmes, Head of Extra Care at Housing & Care 21, said: “As the completion of Thomas Fields is getting nearer, it was great to share the opening of the show home with a number of Councilors and Officers who were also impressed by the Extra Care scheme as a whole. Thomas Fields is made up of 53 two bedroom apartments and 20 residential beds.

In addition to this, the scheme has a restaurant, hair salon, therapy room and will host a number of community activities that will regularly take place. We are looking forward to our new residents moving in at the end of July 2018, and to the community involvement that the opening will bring, making Thomas Fields a real community hub.”

Support and care services will be available on-site 24/7, provided by Derbyshire County Council. The care services will be tailored to the needs of the individual residents.

Thomas Fields is Derbyshire County Council’s ninth Extra Care facility. Councillor Jean Wharmby, Derbyshire County Council’s Cabinet Member for Adult Care, said: “This Extra Care scheme will enable older people to live independent, dignified lives for as long as possible. When the time comes that they do need more support, they will have access to flexible care that’s tailored to their needs right on their doorstep. We’re very excited about this, Derbyshire’s ninth Extra Care facility, and I’m sure it will be an excellent addition to the local community.”

Councillor Julie McCabe, Executive Councillor for Housing and Communities at High Peak Borough Council, said: “It’s great to see the progress that has been made at Thomas Fields – it’s shaping up to be an impressive facility for those fortunate to have secured accommodation there and for the wider community who will be able to enjoy the communities activities at the site when it opens in the summer.”

27 of the flats will be available for rent, 14 for sale under shared ownership arrangements and 12 for outright sale.

The show home will be open to the public from Thursday 26 April 2018. Appointments can be made Thursday – Saturday from 9am – 5pm. To arrange an appointment, call Denise Hollands on 0759082580, or the Central Sales Team on 0345 608 4021.

A sales open day will be held in July 2018, inviting the community to view the completed facilities.
