MP visits residents at Chamberlain Manor

Residents and staff at Chamberlain Manor hosted a visit from the local MP and Secretary of State for Work and Pensions, Damian Green.

The Ashford MP visited Chamberlain Manor, one of our Extra Care schemes, on Friday 9 September and spent over an hour talking to residents and staff. He was also given a tour of the site.

Assistant Housing Manager Scott Breckenridge said: “He had a good chat to the residents in the lounge.

“He talked about some local projects, like improvements to road junctions and a new college that is being built.

“He then opened it up to questions from them, and was happy to answer questions about himself and his career as a politician.

“Although he was here in his capacity as the local MP, he was happy to talk about his work as a Minister.

“He then had a tour of the site and chatted to staff, including the care staff and the hairdresser on site.

“It was a really positive visit, everyone enjoyed it and he was very complimentary about everything he saw.”
