Birthday surprise for Maisie as she meets Loose Women
It was a 90th birthday to remember for Maisie Yates when she met the stars of her beloved television show Loose Women.

Great-grandmother of 11 Maisie, who lives at Richard Sharples Court, visited the ITV studios as an audience member with fellow residents from the retirement housing scheme and when a friend revealed to a member of the production team that she had turned 90 the previous day she was asked to come and meet the panelists.

Maisie, who is chairman of the social committee at Richard Sharples Court and celebrated her birthday with a party there on September 7, is a regular viewer of the show.

She said: “It was really quite funny. We had gone as audience members and then a member of the team asked if any of us had birthdays. A friend who I was with said my 90th had been the previous day and before I knew it I was down at the front having a chat with all of the panelists.

“I got to meet Ruth Langford, Janet Street-Porter, Jamelia and Colleen Nolan. They were all very nice and friendly and told me I didn’t look 90.

“As I was about to leave they told me they had a present for me and gave me a Loose Women mug. The whole experience was great!”

Matthew Humphries, court manager at Richard Sharples Court, said: “It was great to see Maisie get the opportunity to meet the ladies from Loose Women.

“She is amazing for 90 and they all clearly thought the same.

“There’s a great community spirit here and as chair of our social committee Maisie is right at the centre of it. We were all so pleased for her.”
