Volunteering students don their chefs hats for residents
Volunteering Loughborough University students donned their chef’s hats as they lent a helping hand at Ronald West Court.
A team of six from the university’s Action volunteer group cooked a pork dinner with all the trimmings for residents at the nearby retirement housing scheme.
It is the latest in a series of activities the students have helped out with, which have also included a gardening project and a summer sing-a-long for residents.
Court manager, Victoria Edwards, said: “The students are absolutely fantastic and their Sunday dinner went down a treat with residents.
“Since they started volunteering at the court they have made such a positive impact.
“They are getting to know the residents and the work they do makes a massive difference to their quality of life here at Ronald West Court.
“On behalf of the staff and residents I’d like to say a massive thank you to all of the volunteers who have taken part and we look forward to welcoming them again soon.”
Ronald West Court, on Langdale Avenue, features 44 retirement apartments.
Regular social activities are held at the scheme including coffee mornings, lunch club, exercise classes and outings.
