Fundraiser brings in cash for veterans charity
An event at a retirement housing scheme in Ipswich raised more than £360 for a charity which helps blind ex-servicemen.
The event at Vinnicombe Court, on Cambridge Drive, which was open to the public, was held on Armed Forces Day (Saturday June 27) and featured a sale, tombola, raffle and homemade cakes.
The money raised will go to the charity Blind Veterans UK.
Court manager, Lesley Goodwin, said: “We are absolutely delighted to have raised so much for such a worthy cause. We had a great turnout on the day and everyone really got behind us.
“Armed Forces Day was an ideal opportunity for us to hold an event like this and raise money in the process. The residents are all really pleased.”
Vinnicombe Court is a 29-apartment retirement housing scheme.
