Care coordinator inspired to raise £3.7k for charity
A care coordinator was inspired by the serious illness of her relative to raise £3.7k for a local charity.
Shani Smith, one of our care coordinators in Walsall, raised the impressive total for St Giles Hospice by selling her homemade jeweller, holding fundraisers and contacting more than 80 local businesses to get prizes for a raffle.
Shani's sister-in-law, Linda, was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2013 and has been supported by St Giles Hospice throughout her illness.
Shani, who provides domiciliary care, said: "I really wanted to do something for St Giles Hospice as I've seen first hand the fantastic work they do.
"I raised £1,000 last year and then managed to get £2,700 this year.
"I've been amazed by all the support from local businesses and everyone who has donated raffle prizes.
"It is great to be able to make a contribution."
St Giles Hospice is a Lichfield-based charity which provides medical and nursing care for people living with cancer and other serious illnesses, as well as offering support for their families and helpers.
