Housing & Care 21 is inviting the public to an open day about its new extra-care scheme in Sunny Hill.

The new development named ‘Sunnyfield’ will provide 70 two bedroom apartments for local people aged 60 (55+ considered) and over. Communal facilities will include a restaurant, small shop, activity room, communal lounges, well-being suite, hairdressing salon, laundry and landscaped gardens.

Representatives from Housing & Care 21 and partner organisations will be at the open day to talk to people about extra-care living, planning for the future, and different options to rent or buy (shared ownership) apartments.

People will also be able to discuss ideas about different activities, community groups and services which could be on offer at the new scheme, which promotes independent living for local older people.

Laura Francis, assistant development programme manager at Housing & Care 21, said: “We are warmly encouraging anyone who is interested to come along for a friendly chat about our new housing scheme and what it can offer.

“We would like to thank the pupils and teachers at the Village Primary School for helping us choose the name Sunnyfield, reflecting the local area. It’s a great example of how the scheme is already part of the local community.

“We are really looking forward to meeting people at the open day to discuss the scheme.”

The open day will take place on Wednesday 3rd September, at 12.30pm to 6:30pm at St Giles Church, 209 Village Street, Normanton, Derby, DE23 8DE.
