Bainbridge housing scheme receives award

Sycamore Hall, a Housing 21 extra care scheme in Bainbridge, has been awarded a silver award for best rural retirement housing from the Elderly Accommodation Council (EAC).

This is the second time that Sycamore Hall, which provides 42 apartments for people over the age of 55, has won a silver award from the EAC.

Michelle Mottershead, Court Manager, collected the award at a special ceremony which was held at the Legal & General London office on Monday 21 May. Over 100 professionals attended the annual event, which featured presentations by housing specialists.

Commenting on the award, Michelle said: “I’m delighted that Sycamore House has been successful yet again in the EAC awards. I’m proud to work with a wonderful staff team enabling us to provide a service that residents truly deserve and appreciate.”

Nominations for the awards had been submitted by the residents themselves through an innovative game of cards designed to stimulate discussions and capture satisfaction ratings on all aspects of housing for later life. 2847 residents sent entries from all over the UK.

Sycamore Hall is a popular hub for the local community, providing a village shop, post office and library. The court is also used as a base by district nurses and domiciliary care workers.
