New Housing 21 extra care scheme in Bristol
The start of work on a new £8.1 million housing development for older people in Bristol has been celebrated with a special ground-breaking ceremony.
Representatives of Housing 21, Bristol City Council, the Homes and Communities Agency (HCA) and the Leadbitter Group gathered together to celebrate the turning of the first sod.
The extra care scheme for over 55s in Stockwood, Bristol will provide 61 self-contained apartments with options to rent or buy on a shared ownership basis.
The development will include a shop, restaurant and hairdressing salon which will be open to members of the local community.
Apartments at the new scheme, which has received £3.6 in investment from the HCA, will each have:
- a fully fitted kitchen
- walk-in shower
- non-slip flooring to the kitchen and bathroom.
An on-site team will provide care and support, tailored to meet individual needs.
