BBQ fun for sheltered residents

Gharana BBQ.jpgResidents at Nazarana Court in Semilong Road, Northampton braved the unpredictable summer weather and held a BBQ party last week. Around 30 people attended the event, one of many activities regularly enjoyed by those living in the Gharana owned sheltered housing scheme for older people.

Nazarana Court, which is situated in an area with a high ethnic minority population, is specialist in meeting the needs of older people from all communities. The scheme, providing housing for over 55s, consists of 24 one and two bedroom flats for single people, couples and people with disabilities.

Residents benefit from a lively programme of social activity, including regular Bhajans, music, picnics, movies, tea parties and monthly meetings.

Senior Scheme Manager at Nazarana Court, Varsha Patel, said: “The residents at Nazarana Court like to take part in social activities and the BBQ party is a particular favourite. There was a good selection of delicious food on offer and everyone enjoyed themselves.”

The Northamptonshire based Gharana Housing Association, which became part of the Housing 21 group in April, was established 15 years ago. It’s mission statement is social justice, honesty and excellence. Gharana also owns and manages Nivas Court in Wellingborough.

Anyone interested in going on the waiting list for a flat at either Nazarana Court or Nivas Court should contact Varsha Patel on 0370 192 4380.
