Post Office Opens in Extra Care Scheme

Bainbridge residents are celebrating following the reopening of their village Post Office in Sycamore Hall, Housing 21's extra care scheme for older people.

Joining staff and residents to mark the occasion was North Yorkshire County Councillor for the Upper Dales, John Blackie.

The opening by Post Office Ltd of the outreach service from Sycamore Hall follows the launch earlier this year of a new library outlet service from the scheme. Sycamore Hall has become a real hub for the local community since it opened in 2007. Other community facilities provided at Sycamore Hall include a restaurant, shop, hairdressing salon, day centre and healthcare suite.

Sycamore Hall Court Manager, Michelle Mottershead said: "Housing 21 was delighted when we were initially approached by Post Office Ltd to see if we could provide room for an outreach post office service. Our rural situation can make it difficult for residents and some local people to access other Post Offices, so having this facility here is ideal. I'm sure it will be a valuable asset to the people of Bainbridge."
