End of Life nurse shortlisted for award

Morejoy Saineti the Housing 21 Dementia Voice specialist end of life nurse has been shortlisted for the prestigious Guardian Public Servant of the Year Award.

Morejoy supports residents suffering from dementia and their families and carers in the London borough of Westminster. As there are very few dementia-specific palliative care nurses in the UK, Saineti has had to set the benchmark. She has spent time and effort gaining the trust of colleagues in order to get them to send her referrals and to encourage staff to identify residents much earlier who needed help from the dementia palliative care service.

The ongoing evaluation of the service shows she has had a huge impact on improving the quality of life for people approaching the end of their lives with dementia and the people caring for them.

The winner of this award is voted for by members of the public, so if you would like to vote for Morejoy visit http://www.guardian.co.uk/publicservicesawards/vote.
Voting closes on Friday 29th October.
